Wicked
Music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, GOJA Music Hall, Prague

Another Broadway hit musical is now being staged in Prague at GOJA Music Hall. Like, for example, The Phantom of the Opera, this is a non-replica production (i.e the show doesn't follow the format of the original creative team - especially costumes and stage design is a bit different; however, the artists are professional and very good). I must admit I go to the theatre to see performances of individual artists rather than to see a particular show. And I like men more than women. As this is a story of two witches, two women in leading roles were not a promise of too much amazement for me. Of course, sometimes there are exceptions. But this wasn't the case. People say that the ladies carried off their roles very well, but I wasn't too impressed. I'd like to highlight only Petr Ryšavý as Fiyero. For me this is the best performance in the musical. He is very talented, very handsome and always brightens up the stage. My top favourite Marian Vojtko has quite a small part here, sadly. Generally the show is good, but for me not attractive enough to go and see it again.
