Wonderful Town
Musical by Leonard Bernstein
Volksoper, Vienna, Austria

One cold January early morning I set off for another trip abroad to experience the musical culture there. What a perfect start of musical year 2019! Destination: Vienna. This time I saw musical Wonderful Town by Leonard Bernstein.
Athough I really wanted to see it, my expectations weren't too high. And they were met. Still the performance was very good, but I must admit that I liked it the least of the three ones I've seen in Vienna so far The previous ones were Dance of the Vampires (Tanz der Vampire) and Vivaldi - the Fifth Season (Vivaldi - die Fünfte Jahreszeit) - these two are absolute TOP!
I would like to highlight two things about Wondefrful Town: First. it is the performance of Sarah Schütz who played Ruth, one of the two leading roles. She was brilliant! And second, it is perfection of the whole performance, so typical for Autrian stage.
My favourite Drew Sarich was also great but he didn't play the main role (as it was female), so he didn't have enough space to fully express.
Nevertheless, it was a fabulous evening, one of those which will never be forgotten.
